Which shotgun to buy?
Question:
I’ve been hunting for years with a 12 gauge pump shotgun but I’ve decided to give it to my son and buy a 12 gauge semi-auto. I was wondering what kind would be the best for $400 or less. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Sorry, you won’t find any 12 ga. semi-auto new for under $400. Even the new Rem 1100 are $500 these days. The Mossbergs may come close to your price range. Check them out, my brother and Dad swear by their MOssberg pumps. The semi-auto standards these days seem to be the Browning Gold, the Beretta A390 and the BEnnelli. Unfortunately, all are much more than your price range. Good luck!

Thanks. # #I’m kind of partial to Remingtons, therefore I think that they are the tops and especially for the price range that you are in. They make a model 1100 and 11-87. The 11-87 being the top of their line. The only problem is at $400 or less, you will have to settle for a used gun which is all I have ever hunted with anyway. I have had a Remington 1187 for about 4 years now and I have really enjoyed it. Shoots really smooth (compared to 2 different Browing semi-autos), and I have four interchangable chokes for it to provide versitility. I have only used it to shoot skeet so I couldn’t give you a good hunting perspective. I do know that it is out of your price range (~$550 to $600?). Good luck.
