Water moccasins
Question:
: Get yourself a minnow trap. I forget who makes the models I’ve used : but their basic shape is about a 12" diameter wire mesh tube about two : feet long with a funnel like throat at each end. Toss a handful of : minnows or bream in it and hang it near the bank with the throat : barely in the water. I’ve caught numerous snakes this way, none of : which I really intended to catch. Once the snake gets inside and gets : his fill, getting out is impossible. : Getting him out of the trap is an adventure in itself. If the intent is to get rid of the snakes, couldn’t you just toss the trap in the stream for a day, and drown them? samg Visit the rec.hunting and rec.hunting.dogs FAQ Home Page at: http://sportsmansweb.com/hunting/

Jump in the pond. The snakes will magically appear then hit them with a 44-mag with prime rat shot. Believe me, you don’t want to trap them! Visit the rec.hunting and rec.hunting.dogs FAQ Home Page at: http://sportsmansweb.com/hunting/

Try a wire mesh fish basket with a fat juicy live bream in it. The ones with the hinged lid. Tie it off on the bank and leave it in the water. Never tried to trap a cottonmouth, but I’ve caught a few that way by accident. I’ve also caught them on fish stringers, where they eat the fish and get hooked. If those ideas don’t work, see if somebody will let you borrow a ‘gator. Visit the rec.hunting and rec.hunting.dogs FAQ Home Page at: http://sportsmansweb.com/hunting/

i think i would buy a couple of white rats, throw them in the pond and then put my shotgun to use when the snakes came out. Visit the rec.hunting and rec.hunting.dogs FAQ Home Page at: http://sportsmansweb.com/hunting/
