Turkey hunt

Question:

J. Kopp wants to here about turkey hunts? Here’s mine. Started before daylight hunting a property here in northwest Ks. that hadn’t been huted at all this year. A friend and I set out two hen and one jake decoy olng the edge of a pasture where we’d seen turkeys before. Started calling and a jake showed up almost instantly. My friend said he’d take it so I told him to shoot. One dead bush. Later walking back to the truck along a creek bed, what should happen but a tom runs out of an alfalfa field right beside me. Took one shot and dumped him right out of the air! What’s even more suprising to my friends is I got him with a Tiger brand over-under shotgun that I paid a total of $125.00 for. Used an Activ penetrator load of nickel 5s. I guess this shows that you don’t need a $1000.00 gun to be successful. 18lbs.9.5in. beard, 1.75in. spurs. Can’t wait till next year. Hey John. I did the exact same thing!  I got lucky and got an H&R 10 gauge single shot at a gun show for 120$.  It had been 300$.  Has extra full screw in choke tube. It kick like a mule, but it’s wicked on turkey.  No, you sure as hell don’t have to spend 1000$ !!!  I think I may have met someone as cheap as me. John, Check out the Web address in my sig. below. You will find plenty of stories there, including a "Turkey Only" Message Forum, Live Turkey chatroom, and live Voice chat using "FireTalk" to chat realtime in your own voice to other Turkey Hunters. I’m not trying to SPAM the newsgroup, but I think it is what John is looking for. I haven’t been able to POST to rec.hunting for quite some time because my ISP doesn’t know how to run their own news server and even what I could READ was incomplete as they dropped more posts on the floor than they picked up. I have a new (additional) ISP I’m trying out now, it’s news server is slow, but hopefully it works….we’ll see!                     – Warren Full Strut! http://www.fullstrut.com Hunting The American Wild Turkey Full Strut Chapter NWTF – Secretary Visit the rec.hunting and rec.hunting.dogs FAQ Home Page at:         http://sportsmansweb.com/hunting/
