I had a similar experience with a Rem Model 7 in stainless that would shoot groups about similar to a slug gun.  Also got rid of it after giving up on Remington. Hello folks, I had the chance to look over a new Remmington 6.5×55 last night.  I was not impressed.  The bore was off center from the barrel.  the barrel was heavly tappered, more than my Win Fetherweight.  The schnoble front end looked like something off one of the $89.00 shotguns.  The blue was nice.  Wigh the thin barrel and the offcenter problem I would guess the gun night shoot two shots before it started to walk it group all over the place.  I don’t know where Remingtons QA was when the gun I saw came off the production line.  Too bad, I think the Remington makes good guns generaly and I know any company can have a bad one get loose once in a while.  This model looks like the marketing department never talked to the technical department. Joe: Remington’s marketing department certainly talked to the technical department before they released the aptly named Peerless shotgun.  It is awful but it is without peer (fortunately!). As for their rifles, I owned a stainless Model 7 briefly and it had similar problems including very rough magazine feed lips that would draw blood and leave long, deep gouges in brass, a floor plate release button that was impossible to work and a stock that didn’t fit the gun. Traded it in for a Tikka Whitetail Hunter which is a much better rifle.
