Rem 870 shotgun (? how to remove forestock)
Question:
I’m trying to replace my fore-end factory wood stock with a plastic one, but can’t get the cylindrical shaped fore-end nut off. Does it require a special tool?? Thanks Bob

There should be two slots in the nut, a wide piece of flat steel should work, after every shoot you should break down the shotgun. If it is new and just tight, try using some oil first to soak to loosen. This nut should not be torqued too tight. I’m sure they do sell some special tool, for alot of money. If you can’t get it off and if you are in good with a gunsmith, have them loosen it the first time, after that you shouldn’t have the problem anymore.
