Pigs in N. CA

Question:

Well, it’s been a while since I’ve hunted in California (like 15+ years), having lived in other parts of the country where a shotgun is the mandated modern firearm for large game, and I’d like to get back into the swing of things now that I’m back in CA. What I’d thought I’d do is try out some pig hunting. I’ve read the pamphlet the DF&G puts out on hunting on public land, and found it rather confusing. It looks to me like the Cache Creek and Indian Village Wildlife Areas are the most promising areas for me to try. Does anyone have any suggestions for any better places to go? I’m located in Sacramento, so I’d prefer something that wasn’t too terribly far from there. While we’re at it, got any good suggestions for where to go for deer later this year? –Marty Allred Visit the rec.hunting and rec.hunting.dogs FAQ Home Page at:         http://sportsmansweb.com/hunting/

All that being said, a friend of a friend took one out of there this fall with an SKS.  Not sure of the size, but it was up near the falls, almost to the Double Diamond border. If anybody has taken any pigs out of there recently, I’d love to hear about it. By the way, dont even bother in Spenceville during deer season.  Every moron with a rifle in the universe comes up there and shoots at anything moving.  Its getting almost as bad as the Tahoe National Forest Dave Visit the rec.hunting and rec.hunting.dogs FAQ Home Page at:         http://sportsmansweb.com/hunting/
