Need advice on SBE
Question:
Have a 15 year old who hunts with me regularly now and even though I have plenty of guns, it seems like I never have two of the right ones to go hunting with. Neither of us has goose hunted, but would like to in the future. Question one: After some looking around, the Super Black Eagle appears to be one of the best versatile shotguns around. Will the 3 1/2" 12 guage shell be nearly or equal to a 10 guage for ducks & geese? Question two: What barrel length would be best (26", 28", 30")? We will be hunting pheasant most of the time, but again, would like to have a shotgun capable for geese. I already have their 20 guage for quail and absolutely love it. Is the SBE as good gun or is there another that might be better. I don’t mind paying good money for quality and recoil is really not a factor (both of us are quite big boys). Thanks for any input. Ron

Ron: I just bought a SBE. I chose the 26" bbl with a wood stock. The synthetic will probably be better for hunting/durability, but I love pretty wood. There was an article in American Hunter last year that basically stated that the 3 1/2" 12 ga is very, very similar to the 10 ga. You will not go wrong with the SBE. I looked at the Mossberg 835 and the Browning BPS, and the SBE (**to me**) was the best choice. It is semi-auto (the others are pumps) and is extremely lightweight. It will try to put your shoulder in the next county when shooting the 3 1/2" loads, but I would imagine they all will. Good luck. BTW, I got mine on sale for $1000. Jeff Capell Cary, NC
