Looking for Use of Land in Central NJ
Question:
I’m am looking to see if someone would give us permission to hunt on their land in Central New Jersey. We (three of us) hunt only White-Tail during fall bow and shotgun. We currently hunt state game land, but seems to be more crowded every year. We did hunt one piece of private land, but he sold out to a developer (as if there already aren’t enough houses in NJ). Any responses would be appreciated. Any advice would also be appreciated. Vinnie S.
Response:
i also live in nj and found myself in your shoes. i would try advertising in central nj newspapers as well as posting notices in local stores. also try knocking on a few doors. also male sure you sure you have insurance as alot of landowners require it and will shoot you down if you dont. also be prepared to spend big money. my club leases 4 properties in sussex county and they vary in size from 175 acres to 350 acres. the cheapest lease is $500 and the most expensive is $2000 per year. keep trying

Volunteer to do some chores around the farm during the summer in exchange for the hunting privilige. You could mend fences, help with haying, paint buildings, etc. I shouldn’t cost you much other than your time, but would have great returns on your investment. samg Hewlett Packard/Colorado Springs
