Looking for suggestions on where to hunt public land in North Texas

Question:

(Note to moderators:  I have sent two similar posts in the past but never received either an acknowledgement or problem report and the posts did not show up in the newsgroup.  My apologies if this is redundant) I have just signed up for the Annual Public Hunt stamp for Texas.  I am looking for suggestions as to where I could take my grandson the week after Christmas so he can try out his new .243.  North to North-East Texas is preferable.  I know we have very little chance of bagging a deer this late but you never know…. Thanks in advance. Bill W. Visit the rec.hunting and rec.hunting.dogs FAQ Home Page at:         http://sportsmansweb.com/hunting/

Bill, on public land, one must use a shotgun.  If there are locations where this is not the case, then I to would like to know where they are. And the only public land that I know of is up in Wise County.  I’ve been up there several times this year for Dove. Hope this helps, David Visit the rec.hunting and rec.hunting.dogs FAQ Home Page at:         http://sportsmansweb.com/hunting/
