Not to be a nit picker, but…..I don’t think what you are describing here is what is commonly refferred to as a "leg of mutton" case. The "leg of mutton" case is commonly a case that accepts breakdown guns like double barreled shotguns, in their broken down configuration. Consequently they will never be as long as 49". They also do not have rubber end caps, or loops to hang them up with. These features are found on full length gun cases. That appears to be what you have…a full length guncase made of shearling sheepskin. Frederick Maryland (stock #53 46 48), Purchased about 20 years ago and never taken out of the house. Has stored an antique shotgun in a closet. Condition is "As New".
