Sorry, my SP10 kicks a lot harder than my 12 gauge Citori.. Yes the auto action does absorb some of the 10 guage’s recoil.. Thank heavens.. P.S. forget about buying the cammo stock set from Remington.. The forestock goes for around $180, and the rear stock is around $400.. flk kk

Bill, My dad and I share a SP-10 which we take with us on goose hunts in northwest Minnesota, and I can assure you, you won’t be lacking for power when pass shooting.  It is still no substitute for not knowing how far away a bird really is, but when they are in range, no 3-1/2" 12 gauge can compare to it’s awesome fly swatter like pattern that literally kills birds dead on the wing.  I do have several suggestions that may help. #1 Get the 26" barrel.  It will be easier to swing, and I don’t see that great a difference in velocity  between it and the 30".  Besides, who wants to carry around all that extra metal when you have 300 decoys to set?  #2 Shoot Federal shells through it.  When we brought ours home and ran a few shells through it (#2 steel and a modified choke at clay pigeons), it wouldn’t cycle the shells properly.  We took it into our gunsmith and he found a factory defect in a operating rod which Remington fixed for free.  While working on it, the gunsmith also discovered that when he fed it Rem shotshells, it didn’t kick the empties out as well as it did the Federal ammo.  ( He mentioned that Federal loads their shells hotter) He drilled out the gas operating system so it would digest all shells easier and that was the end of our troubles.  So far, after 4 years and about 75 boxes of shells, we haven’t had a single jam.  As for recoil, if you’ve ever fired an Remington 12ga. 1100, you’ll know exactly what to expect.  It’s really not that bad at all.  Good shootin!
