Best Electronic Game Callers?

I’ll ditto the pain to carry. I’ve got a JS and it weighs about 10 pounds. Carried over the shoulder with the attached strap is guaranteed to bang around on your rifle stock. Use it from the truck for night calling. Buy a $29 boom box. Test the available volume first. I’ve killed more coyotes over one of those than with Johnny Stewart. BTW, my JS is for sale! /:o) — * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * David J. I am trying to pick up some opinions on the relative value of electronic game callers, specifically Johnny Stewart and the others marketed by Cabella’s and Redhead (Bass Pro Shops). I can’t buy one locally, and I don’t want to invest big bucks without doing my homework first. We hunt in the hedgerows and don’t have a long field of view, so I don’t really like using the mouth calls because the varmints get in too close. Before we can see them, they are staring at us from 10 yards away. I’d rather have them coming to and focusing on a speaker. Just a suggestion: If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. You can do a couple of things. First, keep using that mouth call (It seems to be working) and carry a shotgun. Call and be ready. When the critter shows up, blast him. The shotgun will help you take care of business at close range. If you still don’t like that, change the way you set up. Call from one hedgerow over or from a fence line off to the side of the hedgerow. That way you will be able to see the critters coming and can then use your rifle. My experience with electronic callers is that they just don’t work as well as a mouth call. They are also a pain to carry out when you have a coyote or two to drag out as well. Good luck.
