Beretta 391 Question
Question:
I just bought a Beretta 391 and want to use it for Duck season. My question is , how do you put in the magazine reducer? The owners manual offers no clue, it says " This operation must be carried out by a competent gunsmith". Every other shotgun I’ve owned has had a plastic plug magazine reducer, this has a long steel rod. Visit the rec.hunting and rec.hunting.dogs FAQ Home Page at: http://sportsmansweb.com/hunting/

Try and see if it is like the Benelli’s. Remove the mag end cap. Look in the end and see if there is a hole. If there is, attempt to slide the rod into the hole. I am assuming the rod has a flat round washer thing on one end that will stop it from falling through the hole. If so, screw the cap back on over it and your done. I think if you look closely at the directions they will read to REMOVE the "plug" send it to a gunsmith. I have an AL390 and it comes with the plug in it. Shove some shells into the mag. and see how many you can put in there. I’ll bet the plug is in there. Visit the rec.hunting and rec.hunting.dogs FAQ Home Page at: http://sportsmansweb.com/hunting/

You were right about a plug being in there, it was plugged to 2 shells in the mag. It came with another plug in the case that limits it to 1 in the mag, I don’t know why you would ever want to put that in. But I’m now plug-less, so thanks for the help. There is a small retaining clip on the plug. Grab it with a needle nose pliers and twist it til it breaks off. Then the plug will slide out from under the mag cap. It is way too easy to interchange the plugs in the field. I think it should be outlawed during duck season…except for mine ofcourse… B – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -> "> > I think if you look closely at the directions they will read to REMOVE the > "plug" send it to a gunsmith. Nope- it looks like it has a recess there about the same diameter as the rod, but there’s no hole . Unless there’s a plug in the recess that needs to come out. By the way, the rod is the same diameter as the one for my Bennelli-but no big washer on the end, just a slightly bigger(maybe a 16th bigger than the rod) ring on it. Thanks anyways. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -> —– Original Message —– > Newsgroups: rec.hunting > Sent: Thursday, August 17, 2000 5:30 PM > I just bought a Beretta 391 and want to use it for Duck season.
