300 Savage Brass Needed

Question:

I’m looking for 300 Savage brass.  I have a 12 year youth I’m mentoring who is shooting his grandfathers old 300 Savage.  I’d like to help him reload, but am having trouble finding brass. Any Info! I had to check the book for dimensions to be sure. Take the 308’s run them through the 300 Savage die (use a good lube (lanolin works super)). Trim to length, fireform. DON’T fire in a 308 later, shouldn’t be any neck left in that case if you do! LB Visit the rec.hunting and rec.hunting.dogs FAQ Home Page at:         http://sportsmansweb.com/hunting/

How about checking with one of the "once" fired brass suppliers in Shotgun News or Gun List. Louis Visit the rec.hunting and rec.hunting.dogs FAQ Home Page at:         http://sportsmansweb.com/hunting/

Response:

If you can find someone who remembers how it is done 300 Savage brass can be made from 308 Win. I have a few of them still that my granddad made. The f(n) fine in my savage lever action. It seems like he said the process involve trimming the neck back and fire forming. Visit the rec.hunting and rec.hunting.dogs FAQ Home Page at:         http://sportsmansweb.com/hunting/

Tom, Have you checked with Norma yet? I don’t have a web site or phone number but they are advertising a full line of brass for whatever anyone may need. Visit the rec.hunting and rec.hunting.dogs FAQ Home Page at:         http://sportsmansweb.com/hunting/
