I like the idea of the larger objective lens … 32 mm on the 1.75 model vs. the 20mm obj of the 1.5 model. Objective: reasonable light gathering – wide angle view for dangerous game at close quaters ! Comments? Where to get scope? Rule of thumb is that an objective diameter 6 times greater than the scope power is the maximum you can use to get the greatest light transmission.  On that basis the 1.75 x 6 does gather more light.  Only, after shooting a 1.5 x 5  and several 3 x 9 power scopes with 40-50mm objectives, I can’t tell much of a difference at 5x, and the heavy scope hairs on the Leupold still seem to stand out more.   The 1.5 x 5 is also slightly better in regards to field of view, and the latitude you have by way of eye placement and eye relief, especially at the low end of the power range.   Cabela’s and Midway seem to have pretty much similar prices on the Leupold scopes.  I’ve had good luck with things ordered from both hope this helps mel sorg Visit the rec.hunting and rec.hunting.dogs FAQ Home Page at:         http://sportsmansweb.com/hunting/ To leave the Hunting listserv list, send a message with SIGNOFF HUNTING
