What is best 6.5×55 ammo
Question:
Looking for the best hunting ammo in 6.5×55 for deer size game. For those of you that use this caliber what are your experiences good or bad with the different factory brands and loads. This will be for a Remington 700 Cassic rifle. Thanks, John from TX You don’t need to buy Internet access to use free Internet e-mail. Most factory ammo for this cartridge will not outperform handloads, simply because they’re loaded to lower pressures. It’ll still work, but your rifle can handle modern high-pressure loads, and I would recommend you look into reloading for it. i’m a throwback from a bygone age, but my favorite ammo for this cartridge would be Norma 154gr softpoints. i have killed deer with this round and the same bullet weight from a 6.5mm Arisaka rifle. Worked great both times. I know the big thing these days is lighter bullets, high velocity, and flat trajectory, but the 6.5 cartridges made their reputation as game harvesters in Africa and Asia w/ 150 to 160 gr bullets. -Zimmy Visit the rec.hunting and rec.hunting.dogs FAQ Home Page at: http://sportsmansweb.com/hunting/ To leave the Hunting listserv list, send a message with SIGNOFF HUNTING
