T/C Encore Accuracy

Question:

If you have TC questions, Encore, or Contender, I suggest moseying over to the site below and getting into TC-L or some of the other sites listed in the links. One way or another most any TC question/answer can be gathered. Typically a TC will shoot right up there with the big kids. I have a SS 22-250 heavy encore barrel (factory) with a Burris 6-24 Signature series scope and Burris Signature series rings. The rings help to zero the scope in with the reticules neutral/centered. I am not a great shooter but a couple of weeks ago I put five consecutive shots in a 1/2" circle at 100 yds. The only thing that really needs to be done is a trigger job. I ordered a spring (1.5 lb. pull) and instructional cd from Mike Bellm and did the trigger job myself. Made a big difference. Good Luck and enjoy Jacob in New Mexico

I just got a T/C Encore with the standard 24" barrel in .243. On my first try Point. However I did not take the necessary time for each shot to eliminate user error from the equation. I also think that It can probably go down to less than and inch with handloads. I would love to hear from you on how well you rifle performs. If this is not the right list for this type of thread then just email me directly I would like to compare notes. I hope a rifle question won’t stretch this newsgroup, because I’m looking for a hunter’s answer.  My question: How accurate can the Thompson Center Encore (rifle configuration) be made and what gunsmithing is required to wring the most out of it? I have the same question for both .22-250 Rem and 300 Win, each with bull barrel. I’m looking for varmint hunting accuracy in both and would be interested in any experiments or projects carried out. Thanks for any help. I haven’t spent any time at the range with my Encore’s first rifle barrel yet so I cannot offer any direct experience, but both Bullberry <http://www.bullberry.com/> and Virgin Valley <http://www.virginvalleyguns.com/> offer 1 MOA five shot guarantees for their custom barrels.  Mike Bellm offers a variety of Contender and Encore products and services and discusses accuracy issues in detail at his website <http://bellmtcs.tripod.com/>  Good hunting!
