Slowest rifle powders?
Question:
> What are the slowest buring rifle powders available? I know about Rel 22, > H1000, H870 and H5010, but are there any slower ones? If so, where can I find > out more about them; availability; suppliers; costs etc?
Note: I’m going to use the word "similar" below to mean overlapping applications, NOT interchangeability as far as charge weight. Some of these I’ve heard about but not seen, others I’ve seen or used. H 50BMG – a friend of mine who shoots a .50 told me about this one IMR7828 – slower, I think, than RL22 so I included it here. MR 8700 – An AA powder similar to H870 (I think) MR 3100 – An AA powder similar to H4831, IMR7828 H450 … may be discontinued, but is similar in burning rate to Rel 22 There was an earlier Hodgdon powder, I think called H570, but that might not be right. These are, or were before being discontinued, all available over the counter in well stocked gun shops.
