need help setting up Rem 700

A Leupold 3X9 scope will pain you once, and last awhile. Get the old kind of military sling with swivels you can take off the rear stud and learn to use it on your bicep to steady the rifle in the prone, sitting, and kneeling positions. You’ll be surprised at how much better that works on long shots than the hasty sling. I don’t know much about factory ammunition; my friend has a Winchester Model 70 and shoots Winchester Ballistic Silvertips in 150 grain. I would try the Remington ammunition first, in case it is optimized in some way for the chamber you bought ( throat length, etc ).
