NC Hunting
Question:
Just moved back to Fayetteville, NC area. I am used to hunting up north (Wisconsin) just trying to find out about hunting areas and tactics that are more tuned to hunting in the south. Currently using a 7mm Mag (deer up north are larger than down here). Am I overgunned? Rather have one shot, one kill than going lighter and not putting a deer down right away. Any help comments would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. P.S. To all the anti-gun zealots out there, I will stand up for my rights and put up a fight. I can only speak for the area I hunt in, Asheville, NC, and the smokies. I dont think you’re overgunned. I use a .300 WM myself, just because I wanted whan I bouth it, a rifle I could use on just about any North America game. The deer are smaller here in NC than in Wisconsin, but just as many, and just as good
. The season last year was parially ruined IMH due to the heat we had all the way up and through gun season. So I’ll just "warn" you that your hunting down here is going to be considerably warmer than up north

Good "bean field rifle" and the Fayettenam area has plenty of them. Go west and you might be overgunned. mb Visit the rec.hunting and rec.hunting.dogs FAQ Home Page at: http://sportsmansweb.com/hunting/
