muzzleloader scope/cleaning question

Question:

I use an mk85 with varix iii 2.5 x 8.  With the knight I can clean the bore by removing the bolt and I don’t remove the scope.  Since the knight can be cleaned by removing bolt , why take a chance on losing the zero.  With a traditional muzzle loader it is more or less required for cleaning . You will see that sighting in is more time consuming than with a regular rifle….I sugest you sight in at 50 yards…..while I’m no expert I have been hunting 35 years and about the last 20 with blackpowder. I had a TC Hawken 50 cal.  I removed the rear site and mounted a Leupold 2X EER scope half way down the barrel.  It was a little hard to get used to but when I did it worked fine. — Please respond by e-mail. I am just getting into muzzleloading. A couple of ?’s on scope and muzzleloaders. (sorry if I hit an issue with any tradional sorts.) If anyone has experience with scopes and muzzleloaders let me hear about it please. 1) mounting – do quick detach rings cause impact problems? If I was to purchase such rings and I took them off and on for transportation, cleaning or hunting purposes, will I experience bullet impact changes?  I would think so but I have no experience with detaching the sight.  I bow hunt and would not think of touching my sight once zeroed. 2) From a cleaning perspective, it seems like a scope will really get in the way. (the real reason for question 1)  If the scope could be detached I would think this would make cleaning an easier job.  Especially since I saw in my owner’s manual that you should not "soak the barrel for over 1 hour"  What’s up with that, are you supposed to turn your gun face down and let it soak? I would not think scopes like to scuba dive in cleaning solution ;-) BTW, I have a Knight rifle if anyone cares so optics experiences with these are appreciated. This will also clean the threads where the breech plug screws in and make it easier to reinstall. Wipe the underside of the scope with hot soapy water to clean the residue from firing. Repeat with clean hot water. Then wipe off  the water and wipe down with oil or natural lube to finish.  If you invest in good quality quick detachable rings you should not experience enough change of impact at 100 yds to cause you greef with your muzzleloader With Warne’s I had about 3/4" inch change at most. I have a Bushnell Trophy 3-9X40 on mine that works great. # 1) mounting – do quick detach rings cause impact problems? # If I was to purchase such rings and I took them off and on for # transportation, cleaning or hunting purposes, will I experience # bullet impact changes?  I would think so but I have no experience # with detaching the sight.  I bow hunt and would not think of touching # my sight once zeroed. I use the Weaver detachable mounts.  Thes require a screwdriver to remove, but it only takes a minute.  I did a lot of testing when I first mounted the scope and found that impact point didn’t change or changed so little I couldn’t detect it. # 2) From a cleaning perspective, it seems like a scope will really # get in the way.
