muzzleloader
Question:
# going muzzleloading (in PA, only flintlock allowed) this fall season. need # to buy a gun. set on a t/c but have 2 models in mind and looking for # recommendations. # # option 1. .50 cal PA Hunter, new, ~$260 # option 2. .54 cal Renegade, used, ~$200 If I never intended to hunt out West for Elk then I’d buy the 50 and shoot conicals at deer from 0 – 125 yards. The 54 has a bit more punch for larger critters. Just a worth-little opinion. — Please respond by e-mail. Programming Utilities home.sprynet.com/sprynet/beanpole Pornography has gotten out of hand. Mark, The difference you’re going to see here in PA, where most of the shots are going to be 75 yards or less, is going to be negligible. Either one has sufficient killing power for deer at that distance and that’s as far as you should be pushing the smokepole anyway. But I also wanted to note that if you’re going in the fall season (I take this to mean the Nov. 30-Dec. 11 rifle season), as your post indicated, flintlocks are not required. During this regular rifle season, flints, caps, and inlines are all allowed. Now if you were referring to the muzzleloader season that begins after X-mas,… well, keep your powder dry.
