Mailing Rifle
Question:
Could anyone give me some tips about sending a rifle in the mail. I thought I would start with this group and ask what the procedure is before I contacted any particular mail service. I thought I could get some good tips from this group. What I want to do is send a rifle from Ohio to my cousin in Oklahoma. Any ideas, tips, opinions would be appreciated. Thanks. By US Law (GCA of 1968) you can use the USPS to mail a long gun to a FFL, or to yourSELF at the address shown, but you cannot transfer a long gun to another individual by mail. Again, you CAN mail the gun to yourself there, say, for a hunting trip you’re planning on making. Norm Balog, D.O. Wrong. Just get a signed FFL from your cousin. Take it along to the POST OFFICE just in case. Declare it is an unloaded firearm. Make sure all the edges are taped closed so they can security stamp it. Then send it to the FFL. Done it twice. Once to Texas and once to So. Thanks to everyone who replied to my question. It sure is difficult to keep a gun in the family. Maybe this is an excuse to go hunting in OK. Jim Moyseenko Visit the rec.hunting and rec.hunting.dogs FAQ Home Page at: http://sportsmansweb.com/hunting/
