Did you think up how to best voice your moral superiority and indignation while sitting down over a steak, or was it a Big Mac? Ever been to a slaughter house? I have, and hunting is a far better way to go since you don’t smell and hear the noises of death for a long time while waiting your turn. Rather you are standing there and then you are quickly dead without long anticipation. So go eat your steak and chew on those thoughts. Actually Jonathan, what is demonic is placing a higher value on animals lives than on human lives, which is what some animal rights groups are doing… >Oooo, the anti-gun and animal rights activists are out to get you! Because people who don’t technically ‘belong’ to anything else latch onto causes which are accepting, and allow them to direct their personal anger at someone besides themselves. More globaly because people don’t want to admit that they are all responsible for the total degredation of our societies. People treat each other like shit, they kick each other in the back for money, they force their beliefs down other peoples throats and don’t have consideration how other people may think or feel. The media preys and capitalizes on the worst possible traits of humanity. They glorify and reward it. The goverment and big business is forcing parents to leave their kids in the care of other’s and in the shadow of careers. Lastly, it’s always easier to blame someone else. Guns have been around forever, gun control hasn’t, I wonder why. Crime is a symptom of society’s condition, not shooting sports. John: Some positive shooting events do make it into the media. Louise Mandrell sponsored a celebrity skeet shoot to raise money for boy scouts. It was covered two years in a row on TNN. Locally in Tulsa, the Boy Scout Council does the same thing. Corporate teams from the Williams Co., Mapco (Oil Company) 4 or 5 law firms, and Bank One compete and participate. Photo made the Metro section of the paper. Oklahoma also sponsors each fall a women’s hunting and fishing weekend for the uninitiated. Topics on gun safety, upland hunting, tying flys for fly fishing and pictures and participants have made it into the local media. What would also help if someone popular with teens, maybe Jewel, who grew up in Alaska, could be persuaded to participate in a fund raising event for a good cause like the above. Or perhaps we can initiate some songs to poke fun at Political Correctness and show the wholesomeness of the activity. See below and feel free to contribute your own: ANNIE OAKLEY The west had fewer limits in Annie Oakley’s day. A fence was not a state of mind. Wild geese flying free Tall grass dancing in the wind and a crack shot to stop a dime. CHORUS But girls with guns today are more for safety than for play. I know it’s not politically correct I like to shoot, though, what the heck. A Browning Citori over and under fills my brown eyes blue with wonder. And it takes a lot of pluck for a girl to shoot a duck. CHORUS It’s just that skeet, clay pigeons and guns will test your skill and are so fun. What’s a poor girl gonna do? It’s Annie Oakley IOU.
