Gun Bans
Question:
>Then you outlaw it.
Try telling the Brits about it. Semi-auto rifles above .22 calibre banned and semi-auto shotguns were effectively banned in ‘88 and now in ‘96 semi-auto handguns and revolvers are banned. If you’re really really good and ask very nicely and promise not to misbehave and allow your single shot .22 rinfire to be locked up a fortress of a gun club they *might* let you have one. Otherwise forget it. You chaps across the water had better pull together or you’ll face the same absurd nonsense. Ben Spencer I shoot and vote.

I was listening to the Sam Stieger radio show today and a caller said he had heard that Clinton and the Brady Bunch were trying to ban Sniper Guns. Has anybody else heard anything about this? Wouldn’t that include any hunting rifle with a scope? Please tell me it’s not true!
Response:
No, most of our guns are not capable of the accuracy that even the cheapest military system. However, these flakes will take the guns that we hunt with and use, only on our licensed prey, away from us. In the mean time, the criminals go on buying their weapons off the street or they steal them from us. Lock your guns up, and hope that these Facist Freaks keep their hands off our equiptment. If they get their way we will be using a childs version of a bow, or slingshot. You know what I mean. James

It wouldn’t surprise me. Take ordinary guns, give them a scary name and then ban them on account of that scary name. I would guess they are trying to target a fair amount of sporting rifles. Huh. First they foist the assault weapons law (i.e. why do you need one of those inaccurate guns anyway?) now they are going to ask us: Why do you need a super accurate gun? Make no mistake about it, I see Slick as being very anti gun and when the NRA characterizes him as the most in our history I believe they are close on target. Join the NRA! — Take Care! That means that there’s a 50-50 chance of hitting a human sized target at that distance. Remember that a bullet wound to the hand is not life threatning, but it takes the enemy out of commission, and ties up the medics. OTOH, I don’t know of too many hunters that would be happy with anything much more than 1MOA accuracy. samg Hewlett Packard/Colorado Springs

Why should such a ban be restricted to rifles with scopes. There are those among us who regularly shoot iron sighted rifles to 1000 yards. I know of people shooting single shot pistols to several hundreds of yards. Clinton will ban all guns if we let him. We should all be members of NRA! Take care, Tom

I have used and shot too numerous rifles. So, I can only come to that conclusion. Your store bought HBARs are nice, but without further work they are not effective competition! James

I read something from GOA (I think) that BradyII was already in progress. I strongly suggest all hunters and anyone who values there second amendment rights to subscribe to the GOA mailing list http://www.gunowners.org/ — Freedom: I didn’t know how valuable it was until it was taken away.
