Good deer gun?

I am about to buy a new deer gun. I was browsing in the store and seen gun I love. It is a Rossi 45 long colt. It has stainless reciever and barrel. It looks and feels great. The action is much smoother than Marlin or Winchester hanging beside it. I usually hunt with a 308 and am unsure if this gun will make good shots at say 100 yards. I have owned a couple of Rossi pistols in the past and they we alwright. Do not know about the rifle. Are Rossi rifles any good? Thanks .
