Bullet Ban/?
Question:
Does anyone have knowledge on up-comming legislation to ban all or most rifle bullets used for hunting and all magnum handgun bullets used for the same purpose. Been reading about this topic in many gun magazines and my gun club’s news letters on current legislation but none of the articles give much detail other than stating that it is a ploy to end the shooting sports as we know it. Any and all input/knowledge is appreciated. i000349 sends (CAR GUY)…

The ban is not an outright ban per se. It is legislation designed to outlaw more "Cop Killer Bullets." As worded the legislation would ban any bullet/cartrige capable of penetrating the "average" law enforcement officers bullet resistant vest. Since most hunting rifles are capable of penetrating these vests they would be banned under this legislation. Since IIIa will stop a .44 Magnum I can only guess that this means they are using level II vests as the standard. I found the legislation on the web but forgot some of it and didn’t download it. Try the senate FTP server. — The most foolish mistake we could possibly make would be to allow the subjected to carry arms. History shows that all conquerors who have allowed their subjected peoples to carry arms have prepared their own fall. Adolph Hitler.
