Black powder rifle help
Question:
hi, i’m an avid shooter and hunter but i must admit that i know very little about the current blackpowder rifles that are out there. i’ve quite a few and i’m looking for feedback/help on selecting one. i’m looking for a bolt action blackpowder rifle that i can hunt deer and bear with the possibility of hunting elk or moose with. i would prefer to use pyrodex until i’m familiar with it and be able to have the option of switching to powder loads. i would like the option of mounting a scope and using sabot rounds. i know Knight has a couple but i have no clue which model will be the best for me. all help is greatly appreciated. thanks in advance Visit the rec.hunting and rec.hunting.dogs FAQ Home Page at: http://sportsmansweb.com/hunting/

I highly recommend the Thompson Center Black Diamond rifle. It has what you are looking for plus can shoot either musket cap, #209 primer, #11 primer. It will also handle a magnum load (3 50grain Pyrodex pellets) for big game. I just got into it myself and found I could shoot great groupings with this rifle right out of the box. Several people recommended it to me. Good Luck.
