[snip] Something "in the news" that should be mentioned, is that the new Knight Disc MZ has been classified by the BATF the SAME as a smokeless rifle. This will negate mail-order sales, and give amo to those states who are considering the removal of in-lines from the special MZ seasons. Why would you want an in-line anyway? Fred Visit the rec.hunting and rec.hunting.dogs FAQ Home Page at:         http://sportsmansweb.com/hunting/ To leave the Hunting listserv list, send a message with SIGNOFF HUNTING

Boring gun…. In some states, inlines may be outlawed soon. If you want blackpowder, get something dependable like the Lyman Plains Rifle, or a Thompson Center for cheap.  Really.  Probably better accuracy, feel and reliability.  Capping a hammer lock is stupid simple.  Capping an inline or a bolt is a royal pain.  Get the real thing.         And of course there’s that ’special’ FITS THS GUN ONLY, nipple wrench for ‘only’ $45, and the ’special’ ramrod for about the same, etc….  And, by the way isn’t that Rem. sort of  $$$+++.  You can get a good BP rifle for under $100, even new, on sale from some of the mail order places.  The old rifles were made that way because it was best, not ‘traditional’.  Our ancestors weren’t stupid…. or at least ‘mine’ weren’t.  Or… try a H&A underhammer if you’re really radical.
