Bighorn National Forest, WY

Question:

I am considering hunting (rifle) Mule deer in the Bighorn National Forest in fall 2001 and was wondering if anyone has any advice/experiences that I should know before I make my final decision.  I am mainly interested in not seeing a lot of other hunters and I will be backpacking in.  Is there a good magazine/book on hunting mule deer in wilderness areas, which covers care of meat and heads after the kill. Any suggestions would be appreciated Visit the rec.hunting and rec.hunting.dogs FAQ Home Page at:         http://sportsmansweb.com/hunting/

Myself and a friend hunted the Bighorn in 1998. Tons of elk hunters using the wilderness. The trailhead camp looked like an R.V. park. We ended up hunting the low country around Hyattville. Had it all to ourselves.Scattered elk, not many deer but it was a bad year. Temperatures in the 80’s in mid October. I have a couple GPS coordinates if you are interested.
