BAR w/BOSS inaccurate

Question:

My brother purchased a BAR .338 mag w/ BOSS and has had nothing but problems with it and with Browning.  The stock broke before the first box of shells had been put through it while initiating the barrel (cleaning between shots).  This was done with open sights. His warranty said there was a 7 day turnaround; it took a couple of months. Then he put a scope on it and found the rifle so off that he had to put in .040 shims. Then, the rifle wouldn’t group well. It is supposed to shoot 1 MOA out the box . He spent lots of time following the BOSS tuning procedures to no avail. The rifle had 2-3" groups at 100yds.  He sent it back to browning again, waited months again, only to get it back with a letter saying it grouped okay with 1.5" groups at 50yds at their range. I’d say this is pretty crappy for any rifle much less one that is made for and praised for accuracy. This thing is supposed to shoot sub 1" groups. Browning has not been responsive either. You would think they would replace the rifle since their BOSS reputation is at stake Anyone have a similar experience or have a Browning contact who can make the situation better. It sure is disappointing when you purchase what’s supposed to be an awesome brand new rifle and have an experience like this. I had a Browning Citori. The metal started to flake off at the hinge, they returned it with out doing anything. I therefor sold all the brownings I had and will never buy another. I had a problem with a Ruger that was three years old and Ruger sent me a new gun, no questions asked!!! I have a Browning .270 A-bolt. It is reasonably accurate. After sitting around from fall to fall and going on a 2000 km move, I took it to the range and shot a .5 inch group at 100 yds  (the best I have ever done) without even cleaning the gun. I have typically shot 1-1.5 inch groups at 100yds (all three shot groups). This has been achieved without much effort in the way of adjusting the BOSS, say one box of rounds.     I also have two shot guns (BPS) and they have both perform well. I have thus never had to deal with Browning. I know they are slow on delivery.     I will definitely be prepared for confrontations with Browning in the future. Ray Preventing Spam.
