ammo advice for hog/javelina combo hunt

Question:

180 grain bullets silly to use the 150’s when the point of impact is essentially the same at 100 yards and the 180 has much more momentum Visit the rec.hunting and rec.hunting.dogs FAQ Home Page at:         http://sportsmansweb.com/hunting/

Response:

I’d go with the 150gr load.   The last hog I took with a rifle was dropped by a Nosler 165 Spitzer out of a .30-06 at 175 yards. There was no lack of penetration adn I imagine you will have satisfactory results with your load as well. I have a chance, without much time to prepare, for a combo hog /javelina hunt in south Texas. I shoot a 30-06. I have 2 ammo options available . Option 1 is my deer load. Sierra Spitzer boattail, 150 grains, clocked at 2979 fps. I have killed many deer and antelope with this load. Option 2 is my elk load. Nosler 180 gr. Partition at 2779 fps. I wont try for a head shot, except maybe on the last day of my hunt.  I want a broadside, heart/lung shot. I will be on a stand watching a feeder 100 yards away, in daylite. Which load should I use, given that I want to maximize my chances of clean kill on these vastly different sized animals?
