ADVICE RE: 30-06
Question:
I am look for an all purpose hunting rifle-mainly deer, some bear, some pig. I am looking at a Remington 30-06 w/ bolt action. I have a line on one that has a composite stock, with scope, like new, for $375. Is this a good deal?? What questions should I ask. Some have commented on the recoil as being a concern. I’ve only shot military type M-1 and M-16 which have very little recoil at all and 12 gauge shot gun which I feel is also very light.

Most .30-06 bolt action rifles with a scope weigh around 8 pounds. This isn’t that much less than an M-1. I have yet to find a 12 gauge that has less recoil than my bolt action .30-06. Bottom line – don’t let recoil be a concern for the .30-06 cartridge unless you are shooting a 6 pound gun.
