7mm-08
Question:
>I love my 7mm-08!! I recieved a remington 700 from my uncle last year
during huntng season here in Tennessee. I absolutely love the rifle. I use 140 grain bullet and it puts the deer down really well WHEN I hit it. I missed a monster this year. The remington 700 in 7mm-08 is a comfortable rifle to shoot as the recoil is not as hard as the 30-06 or 308 which i have hunted with. Its light enough to carry all day in my hands. I seldom use a sling because i still hunt a lot and dont like the noise or the sling being in the way. This year i took 2 bucks. one 6 pointer and one 8 pointer. The 6 was shot thru the lungs with a 75 yard broadside shot and the deer went less than 25 yards. The rifle is scoped with a bushenell 1.5×6 scope which helped me place my shot on the 8 pointer directly under and behind his right ear. He had walked behind a rise in the ground and since i was on the ground it was the only shot i could take. He went down instantly. Like most remington model 700s the take down for cleaning is simply 2 screws at the trigger guard and the mechanisms dissasemble. The only draw back is the spring box internal clip. I would like to ahve a removable 4 shot clip. This is no big deal really, atleast i cant lose the clip if i dont have it can i? Jeff, I have had the same luck with my model 700. Last year I took an 8 pointer that dressed out at 205 lbs with 140 grain. He ran about 100 yards. This year I used 160 grain grandslams a friend loaded for me and it dropped a 180 lb 12 pointer that ran only 25 yards. (He didn’t run the 25 yards very well either). Lightweight and versatile! Maybe not the best for all situations but it sure tries. Happy hunting, Jim (Adirondack hunter) **Take a newbie hunting**

I concur on this caliber. I have a Remington 7600 pump in it, and eat the meat, so usually go for a second or third yaer doe, using 140gr Partitions on top of 47gr IMR4350. I’ve never had one move more than 2 steps after being hit. Really cuts down on ammo use. 6 shots in the last 5 years. Only drawback to the premium ammo, is if you don’t get the vitals, you really mess up lots of meat, and then Mr. Sausage really smiles. But yes, I’ve let all my other sticks collect dust. Resighted a 30.06 for my brother in-law, and now I remember why I love my little 7mm-08. Mark.
