.300 Win Mag reloading info
Question:
I just bought a new .300 win mag. ( Ruger M77 Mark II). Does anyone have any experience with reloading this or a similar combo? Are there any better bullets/powders etc…? Thanks

I have a Rem700 in 300 Win Mag. As far as powder goes it likes H-4831 better than RL-22. Those are the only powders I have tried. Regarding bullets, I’ve tried Grand Slam, Barnes-X, and Sierra BT all in 180gr. My rifle seems to like the Grand Slam and Sierra about the same, but it doesn’t like the Barnes-X at all. I’m sure your Rugar will have its own personality, but I know two other people that have had good luck with H-4831 in 300 Win Mag, so I would recommend including it in your tests. One strange thing is that my rifle likes the bullet seated further back than my other 30 cal non-Magnum rifles. I played around a little with it and found that it prefered to have the bullets set back about 0.05" from the rifle freebore for both the Grand Slam and Sierra, where my 30-06 and 308s like it more in the .01" to .02". I don’t know if this is typical, but it works in my sample of one. Hope this helps and if you discover any revalations please let me know. — Red —

Any of the powders or bullets that you listed will work but when combined with the Acccumajic Accurizer my 300 win went from 2.25moa to .57 with factory ammo with a simple adjustment of a screw and will allow you to pick the powder or the bullet that You want to use and just re tune for that ammo Brian Nasset "I’f that hunting rifle doesn’t shoot under 1/2moa or the varmit rifle under 1/4 moa Then the Accumajic Accurizer may be for you For more info see the web page http://www.teleport.com/~ami/index.htm

Has anyone OTHER than Brian used this thing? Sorry Brian, but you are the only person singing it’s praises, and since you are also selling it, IMHO your opinion may be biased.
