.22 groove peep?

Williams makes one, the "FP" model. They sell it in the Natchez catalog, about $40 or so. It fits the dovetail groove on most .22’s. It will not fit on my Savage 24S (barrel curve is too sharp) but it would fit all the other .22’s I own. It should fit the Browning, is my guess. Williams Gun Sight Company makes a receiver mounted peep sight for the .22 cal Browning semi-auto. I don’t think that it fits into the grooves though. I have a catalog dated 1984 that shows a model WGRS54 for $20.80. You may have to buy a new front riser, bead and hood to match your peep sight. I installed a peep sight on a Remington 742 carbine and it was very fast and accurate until my eyesight started to go downhill. I haven’t seen one but I’ve long believed that it would be a good idea. I suggested it to one of the manufacturers a few years ago but they said that they didn’t think there’d be enough demand.
If you find such a critter, I hope you’ll let me know. I’d like one that would mount on the scope mounts of a center-fire rifle as well. = I was damned near as accurate with the stock buckhorn, as with the = scope, but I’d prefer a peep. — Best regards, Charlie "Older than dirt" Sorsby Los Alamos, NM "I’m the NRA!"
