sportsmanship?:

Question:

Hi all, On opening morning of bow season, I walked out to my stand to find the string (used to haul up my bow) and one (of two) treestand straps cut. There are a few other stands (there from last and previous years) up, but no other hunters had yet asked to hunt on the farm I was on. Now, this sort of thing is unacceptable on public land, but there are enough vermin out there that it can’t be too surprising, but this is private land.  Whatever "hunter" did this is a vial human being who obviously doesn’t have enough ethics to own weapons. When did hunting become a competition of human against human? Does this person really think he is so important that he has the right to destroy others property so that he can "enjoy" hunting. It is sad when a few bring down the standards of so many sportsman. I guess in the end, the plan of the *^$^&^%& who cut my stand and rope kind of backfired.  On opening morning two deer walked right under where my stand was — would have been a relatively easy shot.  Now, I still have more of the season to enjoy, and "he" has to endure my presence on his sacred hunting land. thanks for letting me spout Theo Verbrugge http://w3.one.net/~theov Visit the rec.hunting and rec.hunting.dogs FAQ Home Page at:         http://sportsmansweb.com/hunting/ To leave the Hunting listserv list, send a message with SIGNOFF HUNTING

Theo, You sure it was another hunter and not an anti? We get some pretty strong anti-hunters up here in the Pocono’s [close to NYC liberals with the spray paint for fur group]. There have been a couple of close calls during bear season where anti’s have followed hunters into the woods with whistles, horns and other noise makers. One anti threw some red stuff at a hunter [ex-marine] and the butt stroke was purely a reflex action on his part :-) Me…I always recommend to anti’s " Sure, it’s ok to feed the local bears, do it from right by your kitchen door though" that way when you’re not home he knows which door to use. :-> — Richard J. You can blame allot of stuff on the anit’s.  But actually,  How many hunters.  but that does not mean 95%  are anti’s.  there is a small race of people i reffer to as Fence sitters.  Theese people are the ones who own us. They decide weatehre we can hunt or not.  Now if we do somthing unethical or stupid, we can make  a number of fence sitters turn to anti’s.  You  also have to remember that there is evil where ever you go.  I my outlook is:  "if a hunter is evil or not a good person,  Hunters should not betray or defey each other.  We have to stick together or the anti’s will own us!"
