Question:

Lee is making a list of big game critters I know just enough to get me in trouble, but I’m under the impression there are five 5 types of sheep, not four, but I don’t remember the name, Big Horn ? maybe, is that the same a Rocky mountain ! My freind has told be about his father in law, who has a grand slam on sheep and I’m sure he said there were five types. There is also another type of deer, some kind of little swamp deer native to the everglades. Read about it in an outdooor magazine 10 years ago. Aren’t there different varieties of moose ! Theres a cat called ???? smaller than a cougar, bigger than a lynx, found in central america, ranges up into Texas and the southwest. Is Javelina on your list ! I think Kodiak are considered different from both grizzly and Brown bears, There are blond and cinnamin and bears, but these are colors of the black bear ! Isn’t there a variety called "Smokey Bears", NOW THATS NOT FUNNY. What about Manatee, just kidding. Next time you get together with your drinking buddies ask them if they ever tried Swan neck soup, when they say no and give you a queer look, tell them it tastes like bald eagle. There are more than one type of wolf, timber (gray) and Floridan Red wolf. I have been enjoying the growing list of 29+ game animals in North America. Others added: Barren Ground, Woodland, Mountain, and Quebec/Labrador caribou count Grizzly bear, Jaguar, Plains and Wood buffalo (ok, bison) I would also nominate some marginal species: The wolf is sport-hunted in Alaska, walrus and 7 species of seals many of which are hunted by indigenous Alaskans though some would consider this subsistence rather than game hunting.
