Make a Wish Foundation – bear hunt

Question:

I saw a piece on the TV News here about a controversy that arose with the Make a Wish Foundation. A young boy – I think he lives in Minnesota – had as his wish to go hunting kodiak bear in Alaska with his dad. The Make a Wish group granted this request – and of course the animal rights (how does an animal get RIGHTS?) folks went thru the roof. It was reported that the Make a Wish people here in Calif. tried to stop this hunt from happening. This leads me to believe that the Make a Wish group is somehow locally run. If you want to support this local group granting this kid his wish – send your check to: Make a Wish Foundation Minnesota 5201 E. River Road Suite 309 Minneapolis, Minn. 55421 I’ll be sending mine in this evening.

Response:

>On Rush’s show today, he (jokingly, I’m sure) said the boy offered a >compromise with the AR nuts…he would forgo the Kodiak hunt if they >would let him burn or clear cut an acre of rain forest!  ;-)

This is exactly what I mean by the AR people being confused in the public’s mind (and apparently Rush’s) with conservationists.  I am against cutting down rain forest and I certainly am no AR nut!  On the other hand most of the true AR activists could care less about rain forests if no animals are directly killed cutting the trees down. >But you’re right, we need to support this foundation with our money.

That I agree with!  I have already sent in my check! Jim
