I got one!

Question:

Hello all, I got a nice nine pointer with my bow today.  It was a hunt that went as perfect as if it had been scripted.  The cool morning air really had the bucks moving.  Has anyone else got one yet? You see what you’ve done. You’ve gone and gotten me all wound up. Now I’m going to have to pull out my already clean rifles and clean them again and get them ready for another trip to the range. I’m chomping at the bit. My elk hunt starts late next month and my deer hunt is in november. Congratulations on your early harvest. With a weapon or does the truck count?  No, I haven’t even been hunting or even able to think much about it.  I’m still too busy fishing and guiding to pull a bow. — Visit the rec.hunting and rec.hunting.dogs FAQ Home Page at:         http://sportsmansweb.com/hunting/

I have one more buck tag to fill by mid-December, and four doe tags so I still have plans for a lot of peaceful time in the woods.  I have seen a couple of larger bucks in the area and I hope to get one even larger than the nine pointer.  If I don’t I will not be disappointed because  I was truly fortunate to get the nine pointer. It completed a goal of mine that I had since I was still a youngster.  All the years of trying is what made it so worthwhile.  I still get the jitters when I replay the shot in my head. ARGH! Y’all are driving me crazy!  Couldn’t afford a lease this year, so I’ll have to keep my poor ol’ fingers crossed for a public draw…. One day, though, one day……. Before you buy. Visit the rec.hunting and rec.hunting.dogs FAQ Home Page at:         http://sportsmansweb.com/hunting/

Thank you for the congrats.  It has been a long time coming in bagging a nice big racked buck…..15 years to be exact.  It makes it all that much more special. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text —— Original Message —– Newsgroups: rec.hunting Sent: Tuesday, September 19, 2000 5:02 PM > You see what you’ve done. Was out west of Rocky Mountain house (Alberta) for a few days. Left Sept 17, back Sept 28, WMU 429. Lots of hunters first week, all on quads. Two of us in a wall tent, foot hunt past any little creek, no quads. To hard for them I guess. They pushed the Elk into the creek valleys. Only saw one spike bull and one cow two days later. Stopped counting Deer at 56. ( total seen 75 plus): Mostly Whitetails, about a dozen mule Deer. No mule deer bucks seen, 4 whitetail bucks could have been taken. Biggest was a 4×3. Let them go. Can take bigger Whitetails come November in fringe agriculture/forest. Nothing beats a big grain fed Whitetail. This was forest hunting. Saw one huge black bear, shredding berries along a pipe line right of way. Book bear for sure, 200 yards away. Seen Sunday Sept 24. No Sunday hunting in this central/west zone. Wouldn’t have taken him anyway, already have a couple nice black bear rugs. But damn he was a big bear. Small Grizzly wandering around what’s called the meadows a couple miles from where we camped. Didn’t see him myself, logging truck drivers told me about him. Three Moose seen, one nice bull. Season not open for him. All in All good time had. Weather went from rain, 6 " of snow, to 20 deg C. May go back and spend a few days now that I know where the Elk are. They have been pushed into the Ram river drainages in WMU 429. Have to foot hunt in, then build little quad bridges to get them out. Just writing this makes me want to throw everything back in my truck and go. A bad day hunting/fishing beats a good day at work every time. Lets all get out there, have fun and bring a kid. Brent.
