Question:
Can someone post a list of company’s & businesses who support AR groups. Call it a boycott list or something. I, for one, do not want to give these people my money, and I’m sure you don’t either. or how would I get this info ? Thanks, Bob Ritchie the Bow Hunter

Post away. If people aren’t interested, they’ll ignore it. But please, put it logically and politely. Don’t stoop to the anti’s level. For some good Anti anti reading, check out the PETA page. You’ll love it.

Big misnomer – stands for "Animal Rights." The use of the word "Rights" is, IMHO, inappropriate on two grounds. First, it is a politically charged word. Following the "Civil Rights" and "Equal Rights" movements, the phrase "Animal Rights"covers itself like a wolf in sheep’s clothing with some of the emotional responses triggered by the use of the other phrases: the groundswell of popular belief which invigorated an oppressed people to challenge an unjust way of life established by, and solely benefitting, the good ole boys. Well, we hunters are the good ole boys, our prey the oppressed, and the AR’s are modern Moses setting the animals free. At least by the use of the phrase, we know their motivation is not the best interest of the animals they seek to protect. Exactly what are the animals freed to do? Overbreed and die by starvation and disease in the face of continued loss of habitat? How "humane!" If not for the animals, then why the effort? I have an opinion (it’s just an opinion and not an attempt to belittle or flame; indeed, I kinda pity the AR’s) which leads to the second reason the word "Rights" is misused. I have the right to bear arms; I have the duty to bear arms safely. I have the right of trial by jury; I have the duty to serve as a juror. With rights are duties. To whom much is given much is expected. There are community privileges and obligations and the twain are inseperable. What are the duties of the animals if their community has somehow endowed them with rights? Ain’t any. The nomenclature of the AR’s unfortunately misdirects analysis of the society’s position with respect to game and other natural resources. I submit that we have the right to use animals for our benefit and that we have a duty to be good stewards of such resources. There have been screw-ups in the management of game and habitat. We breached our duties. The focus should be on identifying and fulfilling our duties as good stewards. But the AR’s cannot dare frame the issue thus, for by raising the issue of duty they admit the existence of our rights. They instead deny such rights by artifically bestowing rights on animals. The AR’s denial that we have the right to use animals to our benefit runs counter to the whole of mankind’s history. What’s up? I believe their motivation may not be a love for animals but a hate of people, especially hunters. Their efforts, it seems to me, are not to benefit the animals (how much habitat have their efforts restored compared to that of hunters?), but to remove the human element from the natural realm (which seems to be pretty unnatural to me). From whence arises this disdain of others? Perhaps, from a disdain of self. One cannot help but meet one’s self when hunting. The questions will be asked: "Why do I do it? Do I still have it in me?” Only one test will suffice. When the reticle is centered in the kill zone, the safety is off, and the bullet held in check only by insufficient pressure on the trigger, I know that with a slight squeeze of the finger I can "technically" kill the buck. Only with the violent spilling of the blood of the animal and the actual stilling of his heart do I know that I have it in me to to take life. I am overcome with different emotions, but I cannot help but give thanks for the animal taken and, perhaps more importantly, the taking of the animal. By so completely immersing myself in its death I more fully appreciate life — my life and all that surrond me. The world and I are more alive. The AR’s have never, and will never, know the essence of being alive, and they hate those of us who do. Just some late night rambling. "He who dies with the most toys — dies." Mark 8:36 Ron & Oro
